Polar Bears Get Past Cougars,
75-53
Brunswick, Maine (11/30/08) - Junior
Vinnie Darpino (Colonia, N.J.) led the Cougars
with 13 points, but it wasn't enough as the men's basketball team
fell to host Bowdoin College, 75-53, Sunday afternoon.
With the loss the Cougars fall to 3-3 overall, while the Polar
Bears move to 4-1 with the win.
After a see-saw affair in the first five minutes of action, Bowdoin
used a 13-2 run over the next five minutes for a 22-12
cushion. The Polar Bears headed into the break with a 45-31
lead.
Kean sprinted out of the break and used a 16-5 run over the
first eight minutes of the second half and pulled within three,
50-47, as Michael Oglesby (Neptune, N.J.) hit at
layup at 11:38. But that would be as close as KU would get as
Bowdoin chipped away at their lead and closed out the final five
minutes on a 14-4 run.
Sophomore Jonathan Jones (Linden, N.J.)
(pictured right) finished with nine points and seven rebounds as
well as three blocks while Dean Hughes (Pemberton Twp.,
N.J.) had nine points.
The Cougars kick off New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC)
action on Wednesday, December 3rd when they take on
Richard Stockton at 8 p.m.
