UNION, N.J. (11/6/08) - Senior Katie McGee (Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Kean University field hockey team to a 3-0 shutout over #10 Rowan University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Thursday evening.

The Cougars (14-5, 4-2 NJAC) close out the regular season with their first win over the Profs (13-4, 3-2 NJAC) since 2004.

Freshman Olivia Triano (Keyport, N.J.) (pictured right) scored the first goal of the game just 10:28 into the game when McGee sent a pass across the front of the cage that Triano knocked in from the left side.

Later in the half, McGee added her second assist of the night on a tip-in by junior Julie Bachovchin (Piscataway, N.J.) with 12:34 remaining in the first half for the 2-0 lead at halftime.

McGee later added the insurance goal with the unassisted goal with just 11:55 left in the contest.

With her two assists, McGee tied the single season record for assists (10), while also becoming the program's all-time career leader with 25 career assists, breaking the mark of 24 held by Cherie McNellis (2002-05).

Rowan held a 13-11 edge in shots, while each team had 10 penalty corners.  The Profs goalkeeper Lisa Apt (Mays Landing, N.J.) recorded two saves, while Kean goalkeeper Ashlie Berghold (Boyertown, Pa.) stopped one shot in the shutout victory.
