Cougars Defeat Thiel, 76-57

Wooster, Ohio (12/30/08) - Sophomore Jonathan Jones (Linden, N.J.) scored a game-high 19 points as the men's basketball team won the consolation match of the "Mose"/Hole Kiwanis Classic held at The College of Wooster Tuesday evening by defeating Thiel College, 76-57.

The win improves Kean to 5-6 overall in the final game of the 2008 calendar year.

The Cougars took control early, taking the lead for good with 15 minutes remaining in the first half as Jones (pictured right) hit a jumper for a 9-8 lead KU would not relinquish.  Kean headed into the locker room with a 40-31 halftime advantage.  Jones, a member of the all-tournament team, provided 10 first half points while freshman Michael Oglesby (Neptune, N.J.) added eight.

KU then cruised through the second half, leading by double-digits throughout most of the final 20 minutes.  Junior Eugene Tolliver (East Orange, N.J.) finished the day with 13 points while Oglesby (pictured left) had 10.  Sophomore Akinwande Oshodi (Florence, N.J.) had nine points and six rebounds in the win.

The Cougars return to action in 2009 as they travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts for the Purple and Gold Invitational beginning on January 2nd.
