Men's Lacrosse Defeated at Widener, 17-9
CHESTER, Pa. (2/27/08) - Senior goalkeeper
Dave Nichols (Florham Park, N.J.) recorded 19
saves, however the Kean University men's lacrosse team fell to host
Widener University, 17-9, in non-conference
action on Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn, N.J.)
netted four goals for the Cougars (0-2), while senior Clint
Quedenfeld (Chalfont, Pa.) notched a career high six goals
and nine points in the senior opening victory for the Pride (1-0).
The Cougars trailed just 4-2 after one quarter of play, before
the Pride netted six goals in the second quarter, including three
from Quedenfeld to take a 10-5 lead at halftime.
Senior midfielder Dennis Lukascko (Lincoln Park,
N.J.) recorded a pair of assists, while sophomore attack
Anthony Bertucci (Edison, N.J.), sophomore
midfielder Sean Cope (Succasunna, N.J.), junior
attack C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.), junior
attack Eric Gillar (Milltown, N.J.) and senior
defender Kyle Huff (West Caldwell, N.J.) each
added a goal.
The Cougars open their season at home on Saturday, March 1, when
they host DeSales University in non-conference action at 1 p.m.
