Panthers Power Past Cougars, 19-2
Orange, Calif. (3/16/08) - Junior Kurt
Yacko (Costa Mesa, Calif.) recorded six RBI as #1 Chapman
University defeated #10 Kean University, 19-2, Sunday evening at
Hart Park.
The loss, the first in eight games for the Cougars, drops KU to
9-3 overall. The win improves Chapman to 15-2.
Kean got on the board in their first at-bat as senior Derek
Gianakas (Edison, N.J.) tripled home outfielder
Bryan Burke (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) who got aboard
with a four pitch walk. Gianakas would later score on a wild
pitch to give Kean a quick 2-0 lead.
That would be as far as the Cougars would go, however, as
Chapman responded with a single run in the bottom of the first and
blew the game open with four runs apiece in the second and third
innings.
KU managed just one more hit on the night as senior Eric
Ammirata (Hamilton, N.J.) singled in the top of the
second.
Junior Colin Feneis (Spotswood, N.J.) suffered
the loss. Feneis (1-1) allowed six runs, two earned, in two plus
innings of work.
Kean will enjoy a day off and get back to work on Tuesday as
they take on the University of Redlands.
