Cougars Breeze Past Farmingdale,

Anthony Bertucci (Edison, N.J.) netted a team-high
four goals as the Kean University men's lacrosse team breezed past
Farmingdale State, 18-3, Wednesday evening at Kean Alumni Stadium.
With the win the Cougars improve to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the
Skyline Conference. The loss drops the Rams to 2-8 on the
season and 0-3 in conference play.
Both teams battled early, trading goals in the first
period. Farmingdale took their only lead of the match with
what would end up being their last goal of the evening.
Freshman Joey Stroessenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y.) put the
Rams up 3-2 off an assist from freshman Eddie Rifice (Babylon,
N.Y.). The Cougars scored the final two goals of the
first period to tie things up and take the lead for good.
Senior Dennis Novello (Freehold, N.J.) knotted the
score at three off an assist from junior Chris DeCarlo
(Sandy, Utah). Bertucci put KU up for good with just
1:30 remaining in the first period off an assist by Brian
MacConnell (West Islip, N.Y.).
The Cougars would then go on to score the final 14 goals of the
match, recording six in the second period, and four a piece in the
final two frames.
Junior C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.)
(pictured right) recorded three goals and two assists for five
points while junior Eric Gillar (Milltown, N.J.)
registered two goals and an assist in the win.
In net, senior Dave Nichols (Florham Park,
N.J.) recorded 13 saves in just over 49 minutes of action.
The Cougars will return to action on Sunday, April
20th as they travel to take on Moravian College at 1
p.m.
