Cougars Cruise Past Farmingdale,
10-3
Farmingdale, N.Y. (5/10/08) - Senior
Bryan Burke (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) picked up his
first win of the season while also recording his seventh triple of
the year as #6 Kean University defeated host Farmingdale State
College, 10-3, Saturday afternoon in their final regular season
game before the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament begins this
week.
Burke was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI while teammate
Mike Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) was 3-for-3 with two
runs scored and two RBI.
In a predetermined rotation, nine Cougars saw action on the
mound this afternoon, each with one inning's worth of work.
Burke helped himself by crossing the plate in the top of the first
inning with KU's first run and the lead they would not
relinquish. Therefore, after tossing a hitless frame in the
bottom of the inning, he left the game as the pitcher of record,
earning him his first win of the season.
The Cougars got a bulk of their offense in the top of the third
as senior Maikel De La Rosa (Newark, N.J.)
(pictured right) got things going with a leadoff double.
Burke followed with an RBI triple and later scored on a passed
ball. Moceri kept the offense going with a single and
sophomore Nick Nolan (Linden, N.J.) brought him
home with a two-run shot, his ninth of the season, for a 6-0
advantage.
Offensively on the afternoon, senior Eric Ammirata
(Hamilton, N.J.) was 2-for-4 while freshman Gabe
Ramirez (North Bergen, N.J.) was 2-for-5.
The Cougars will await the bracket announcements that should be
posted late Sunday evening, or early Monday morning. Stay
