Gibbs' Hat Trick Sends Kean Past
Elmira, 5-0
Elmira, N.Y. (9/26/08) - Junior Brittany Gibbs
(West Deptford, N.J.) led Kean with her second consecutive
hat-trick, all in the first half, as Kean University blanked host
Elmira College, 5-0, Friday afternoon.
Gibbs who has 14 goals this season ups her career total to 36, good
for second all-time in the KU record books.
Kean (6-2) wasted little time getting on the board as Gibbs took
a ball from Kelly Mataya (West Paterson, N.J.) off
the corner at 1:10. The roles reversed as Mataya would score
a goal of her own at the 39 minute mark off an assist from
Gibbs. Freshman Olivia Triano (Keyport,
N.J.) (pictured right) rounded out the scoring with an
unassisted goal at 64:11.
Keeper Ashlie Berghold (Boyertown, Pa.) notched
nine saves in the shutout.
The Cougars, who outshot Elmira, 25-12, will have a short break
in the action and returns to NJAC play on Saturday, October
4th when they travel to face Ramapo College at 1 p.m.
