Women's Soccer Bows Out of NJAC

Pomona, N.J. (10/31/09) - Fourth-seeded Richard
Stockton advanced to the semifinal round of the New Jersey Athletic
Conference (NJAC) tournament with a 2-0 victory over #5 Kean
University on Saturday afternoon.
Melissa Scully (Gloucester Twp, N.J.) scored what
proved to be the game-winner in the first half, on an assist from
Leah Pocoroba (Galloway, N.J.) just 7:22 into the match.
Kiera Hines (Deptford, N.J.) gave Stockton (13-6-1) an
insurance goal with 19:33 remaining in the second half on a
crossing pass from Rachel Carlson (Mullica Twp, N.J.).
Freshman goalkeeper Maria Dorris (Mantua, N.J.) made
three saves in recording her fifth shutout of the season for
Stockton. Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.) kicked
out five shots for the Cougars (7-8-4).
Stockton will travel to top-seeded Rowan University for an NJAC
tournament semifinal game on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
