Women's Hoops Handle CSE,
64-33
UNION, N.J. (12/21/09) - Junior Tiffany
Patrick (Piscataway, N.J.) recorded a double-double with
12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Kean University women's
basketball team to a 64-33 win over College of Saint Elizabeth in
non-conference action on Monday afternoon.
Patrick (pictured right) hit 6-of-9 shots from the floor and added
three steals and two blocks in the ninth straight win for the #7
Cougars (9-1).
Senior forward Bridget Sweeney (Roselle, N.J.) finished
with a team-high 10 points for the Screaming Eagles (7-5).
The Cougars scored the first nine points of the game and took an
early 20-6 lead en-route to the 24-point lead at halftime
(40-16). Patrick scored all 12 of her points in the opening
half and grabbed six boards, while rookie Brittanie Payne
(Willingboro, N.J.) added five points in the first
half. Sweeney netted six points for CSE in the opening half.
In the second half, Kean used a 13-1 run to build their largest
lead of the game at 64-26 with just under two minutes remaining in
the game.
Freshman Naimah Clemons (Newark, N.J.) finished
with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Payne
finished with nine points, three steals and three assists.
For Saint Elizabeth, sophomore Sabrina Jarmolinski
(Lakewood, N.J.) added eight points and eight rebounds.
The Cougars travel to Wesley College for the Wesley Holiday
Tournament, where they face Widener University in the opening round
on Monday, December 28, at 7 p.m.
