Jackman Nets 1000th Career Point in 94-46 Victory Over Rutgers-Camden

UNION, N.J. (2/14/09) - Senior Ebony Jackson (Newark, N.J.) and junior Cardiss Jackman (Tobyhanna, Pa.) combined for 48 points, eight assists and nine steals to lead the Kean University women's basketball team to a 94-46 victory over Rutgers-Camden in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Jackman finished with 23 points, including the 1,000th of her career, and added team-highs of five assists and five steals for the Cougars (19-5, 11-1 NJAC), while Jackson scored a game-high 25 points on senior day.

Sophomore Karima Blackwell (Somerdale, N.J.) had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Rutgers-Camden (2-20, 1-11 NJAC).

In the first half, the Cougars used a 20-4 run to build a 30-13 lead with 7:34 remaining in the half.  Junior guard Olivia Triano (Keyport, N.J.) hit the first of her five three pointers for the game to ignite the run, while Jackman added nine points in the spurt.  The Cougars led by as many as 19 points in the half en-route to the 43-28 lead at halftime.

Jackson led the Cougars with 15 first-half points, while Jackman added 12 points and sophomore forward Tiffany Patrick (Piscataway, N.J.) added 11 points and seven rebounds in the opening half.

Freshman Stephanie Deisley (Riverside, N.J.) and sophomore Sarah Gorbe (Riverside, N.J.) each had eight points for the Scarlet Raptors.

The Cougars scored the first 18 points of the second half, holding Rutgers-Camden without a field goal for the first 5:28 of the half, to extend the lead to 61-38. 

Jackman capped another 10-0 run for the Cougars with a three-pointer with 11:21 to go in the game to become the 17th player in program history, and second this season to eclipse 1,000 career points. 

Kean scored the final 13 points of the game en-route to the 48-point victory.

Patrick hit 7-of-10 shots from the floor and finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals.  Triano hit a career-high five three-pointers to finish with 15 points for the Cougars.

For Rutgers-Camden, Deisley finished with 10 points, hitting 4-of-6 from the floor. 

The Cougars wore pink uniforms as part of Kean Blue Thinks Pink and in conjunction with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Pink Zone.  All ticket sales and Kean Blue Thinks Pink t-shirt sales will be donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. 

The Cougars close out the regular season on Wednesday, February 18, when they travel to The College of New Jersey.  The winner of that game clinches the top seed in the South Division and a first-round bye in the upcoming NJAC playoffs.
