Kean Earns First Road Win of
2009
Riverside, Calif. (3/13/09) - Freshman Lee Cavico
(North Brunswick, N.J.) launched his first homerun of the
season while also driving in six runs as #4 Kean University
defeated host La Sierra University, 13-8, Friday afternoon.
The Cougars, playing in their first away contest of the 2009
season, improve to 10-1.
Kean got all the run support they would need in the first two
innings of play as they plated five and six runs
respectively. Cavico provided a two RBI double and later
scored on a double steal. It was Cavico again in the second
with a three-run blast, his first of the year, while teammate
Mike Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) (pictured right)
added a two RBI single.
Freshman Sam Fourre (Scotch Plains, N.J.)
received a no-decision in his first start of the season.
Fourre (pictured left) tossed four innings allowing no runs and
just three hits, he fanned four. Freshman Tommy
Berardi (Sayreville, N.J.) earned the win as the pitcher
of record after four and two-third innings of work.
Offensively Cavico was 3-for-3 with a double, homerun and six
RBI. Moceri was also 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs
scored. Catcher Tim Lowe (Edison, N.J.) was
2-for-2 while Nick Nolan (Linden, N.J.) was
2-for-4 with an RBI.
Kean will face off against #11 Chapman University on Saturday,
March 14th at 7 p.m. local time.
