Men's Lacrosse Pulls Away From

UNION, N.J. (4/1/09) - Freshman midfielder
Nick Angrisani (Belle Mead, N.J.) scored twice in
the fourth quarter, as the Kean University men's lacrosse team
pulled away from Western Connecticut State University with three
goals in the final quarter in an 8-4 non-conference victory on
Wednesday evening.
Sophomore Mike Terry (Maplewood, N.J.) added
two goals for the Cougars (7-3), while freshman Tyler Martone
(Cheshire, Conn.) made 14 saves for the Colonials (2-6).
Trailing 2-0 early in the second quarter, the Cougars scored
three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead at halftime.
Angrisani got the Cougars on board first, scoring off the assist
from junior C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.) with
5:43 to go in the half. Defender Chris Masiulis
(Ellicott City, Md.) took the ball the length of the
field, netting the unassisted goal a minute later to tie the game,
before junior Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn, N.J.) gave
the Cougars their first lead of the game with 4:10 remaining in the
second quarter.
The Colonials tied the game with the first half of the goal of
the third quarter, as freshman attack Sean Macey (New
Fairfield, Conn.) scored just 21 seconds into the
quarter. The Cougars regained the lead for good, as Terry
(pictured right) scored back-to-back unassisted goals.
Junior midfielder Anthony Bertucci (Edison,
N.J.) had a team-high two caused turnovers and three
groundballs, while Masiulis picked up four groundballs. In
goal, junior John Gesumaria (Cranford, N.J.) made
eight saves.
Macey scored two goals for the Colonials, while senior
midfielder Mike Nazzaro (Trumbull, Conn.) had one goal and
one assist.
The Cougars open up defense of their Skyline Conference
championship on Saturday, April 4, when they travel to Maritime
College. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
