Baseball Blanks Drew, 10-0

(Yardville, N.J.) was 3-for-3 with three doubles as #5/12
Kean University defeated host Drew University, 10-0, in a
rain-shortened contest Tuesday afternoon at Doc Young Field.
The Cougars (23-7) pounded out 14 hits in just five innings of
play. The Rangers (6-22) were limited to just three singles
as Kean recorded their third shutout of the season.
Kean got things going with two runs in the top of the
first. Freshman D.J. Breckenridge (Fair Haven,
N.J.) scored on a groundout after reaching on a leadoff
single. Moceri (pictured right) later doubled home freshman
Vinny Galya (Old Bridge, N.J.) who reached on an
infield bunt single.
The Cougars put things out of reach with a four run third
inning. KU recorded four straights hits to start the frame,
including three doubles.
Starter Joe Rizzo (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned
the win in a predetermined rotation. Rizzo (2-0) allowed
just one hit and two walks. Senior Pedro Rivera
(Elizabeth, N.J.) (pictured left) also tossed two innings
with four strikeouts and freshman Ryan Zamorsky
(Branchburg, N.J.) tossed the fifth allowing two
singles.
Offensively Moceri recorded three RBI to go along with his three
doubles, tying a single-game record. Galya was 3-for-4 with
three runs scored and junior Mike Diaz (Westfield,
N.J.) was 1-for-2 with two RBI.
