Rowan Defeats Women's Lacrosse in
NJAC Action
GLASSBORO, N.J. (4/2/09) - The
Kean University women's lacrosse team fell to Rowan University,
18-4, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Thursday evening.
Sophomore Amanda South (Fairless, Pa.) led the
Cougars (2-7, 0-2 NJAC) with three goals, while senior midfielder
Carly Walsh (Allenwood, N.J.) led the Profs (5-4, 2-0
NJAC) with five
goals and four assists.
After South (pictured right) pulled the Cougars to within 5-2
with her second goal of the game at the 14:06 mark of the first
half, Rowan scored nine straight goals spanning the first and
second halves to build a 14-2 lead just three minutes into the
second half.
The Cougars scored two of the next three, however the Profs
closed the game with three goals to remain undefeated in the NJAC.
Freshman Sabrina Vargas (Elizabeth, N.J.) made
10 saves in the final 47 minutes of action for the Cougars.
Kean returns home on Saturday, April 4, when they host The Sage
Colleges in Skyline Conference action at Noon.
