Cougars Pound Past Aggies,
16-2
Union, N.J. (4/23/09) - The Cougars pounded out 15 hits en
route to a 16-2 victory over Delaware Valley College Thursday
afternoon at Jim Hynes Stadium.
Junior Mike Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) was
2-for-4 with three RBI and a double while sophomore Gabe
Ramirez (North Bergen, N.J.) was 3-for-4 with four runs
scored and a two run homerun, his third of the year.
Kean (29-7) broke the game wide open in the third, plating eight
runs with eight hits. Junior Dave Zavistoski (Edison,
N.J.) got things going with an RBI double. Later in
the inning infielders Nick Ramagli (Emerson, N.J.)
and Moceri hit back-to-back RBI singles. Freshman Lee
Cavico (North Brunswick, N.J.) doubled down the leftfield
line and Ramirez (pictured right) launched a two run shot to left
to round out the scoring.
The pitching core of three seniors combined for the strong
outing. Joe Rizzo (Staten Island, N.Y.)
picked up the win. Rizzo (3-0) (pictured left) tossed five
innings allowing just one run and three hits. Kyle
Murphy (East Hanover, N.J.) threw three innings allowing
just one run and five hits while Drew Campbell
(Hillsborough, N.J.) closed out the ninth with just one
hit. The trio didn't allow a walk all afternoon.
Zavistoski was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI in the
win.
Kean returns to NJAC action on Friday, April 24th
when they travel to Rutgers-Newark at Bears and Eagles Riverfront
Stadium at 5 p.m.
