Cougars Pound Past Aggies, 16-2

Union, N.J. (4/23/09) - The Cougars pounded out 15 hits en route to a 16-2 victory over Delaware Valley College Thursday afternoon at Jim Hynes Stadium.

Junior Mike Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double while sophomore Gabe Ramirez (North Bergen, N.J.) was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and a two run homerun, his third of the year.

Kean (29-7) broke the game wide open in the third, plating eight runs with eight hits.  Junior Dave Zavistoski (Edison, N.J.) got things going with an RBI double.  Later in the inning infielders Nick Ramagli (Emerson, N.J.) and Moceri hit back-to-back RBI singles.  Freshman Lee Cavico (North Brunswick, N.J.) doubled down the leftfield line and Ramirez (pictured right) launched a two run shot to left to round out the scoring.

The pitching core of three seniors combined for the strong outing.  Joe Rizzo (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up the win.  Rizzo (3-0) (pictured left) tossed five innings allowing just one run and three hits.  Kyle Murphy (East Hanover, N.J.) threw three innings allowing just one run and five hits while Drew Campbell (Hillsborough, N.J.) closed out the ninth with just one hit.  The trio didn't allow a walk all afternoon.

Zavistoski was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI in the win.

Kean returns to NJAC action on Friday, April 24th when they travel to Rutgers-Newark at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium at 5 p.m.
