Fourth Quarter Surge Sends Stockton
Past Kean, 7-6
Union, N.J. (4/25/09) - Four straight unanswered goals in
the fourth quarter sent visiting Richard Stockton College past Kean
University, 7-6, Saturday afternoon at Kean Alumni Stadium.
Junior attack Josh Dybus (Lyndhurst, N.J.) knotted the
game at six all with 3:50 to go in the fourth off an assist from
junior Matt Bell (Jackson, N.J.). With 2:15 on the
clock, senior attack Keith Bologno (Glen Gardner, N.J.)
netted the game-winner of a pass from Dybus.
The Cougars led for the entire match leading up to the decisive
fourth. KU (11-6, 2-3 Skyline) scored the first four goals of
the match with one in the first and three more to begin the second
quarter. Senior Eric Gillar (Milltown, N.J.)
scored Kean's fourth goal of a pass from senior C.J. Gannon
(Morris Plains, N.J.).
The Ospreys (9-4, 4-1 Skyline) then scored two straight to close
out the first half as Matt Bologno (Glen Gardner, N.J.)
took a pass from Anthony Bonjavanni (Howell, N.J.) to put
the score at 4-2.
After trading goals in the third period, Kean headed into the
fourth with a 5-3 lead. Gillar (pictured right) scored again
early in the period to put the Cougars up by three, but that would
be the last time KU found the net, as Richard Stockton recorded
four straight for the 7-6 victory.
Gannon (pictured left) finished with a goal and an assist for
two points for the Cougars while K. Bologno and Dybus finished with
three points apiece.
Junior Pete Marcelliano (Morristown, N.J.) picked up
the win in goal with 15 saves. Junior John Gesumaria
(Cranford, N.J.) had 10 saves in the loss.
