Farmingdale Defeats Women's
Lacrosse, 24-10
Farmingdale, N.Y. (4/25/09) - Senior
Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored a game-high six
goals as Farmingdale State defeated visiting Kean University,
24-10, Saturday afternoon.
Senior Stephanie Cirino (Warminster, Pa.) scored
the first two goals of the game, before the Rams responded with
four straight goals to take the lead 4-2. Freshman Nicole
Torre (Toms River, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal and
Cirino tied the game at 4-4 with a free position goal with 18:49
left in the first.
Freshman Ashley Scanello (North Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y.) put Farmingdale up 6-4,
but the Cougars came back with four straight to lead 8-6 with seven
minutes remaining. The Rams scored five goals in the final six
minutes to hold an 11-8 halftime advantage.
In the second half, Farmingdale shut down Kean allowing only two
goals to secure the undefeated Skyline record and improve to 9-3
overall.
Cirino (pictured right) led the Cougars with five goals and one
assist. Junior Chelsea Davis (Livingston,
N.J.) grabbed a game-high 11 draw controls. Freshman
Gina Petrizzo (Hopatcong, N.J.) played 42 minutes
in goal and made 10 saves in the loss.
Farmingdale will host the semifinal game of the Skyline Conference
Playoffs on Wednesday, April 29th at 4:00 p.m. The Rams are the #1
seed and will host #4 seed Kean. The winner will advance to the
Championship game on Saturday, May 2nd to be played at the highest
remaining seed.
