Women's Soccer Battles to 2-2
Draw
Newport News, Pa. (9/11/09) - Freshmen
Carly Seidel (Winslow Twp., N.J.) and
Julianna Natale (Clifton, N.J.) each scored but it
wasn't enough to get past host Christopher Newport University as
Kean tied for the second consecutive match, 2-2, Friday evening.
The Cougars (1-1-2) and Captains (0-3-1) used all their offense in
the first period as CNU scored in the 15th minute to
take a 1-0 lead. KU quickly responded as Seidel took a pass
from junior Lara Kaminski (Rahway, N.J.) just a
minute later to knot the game at one.
The Captains regained the lead in the 28th minute,
but Kean countered again 10 minutes later as Natale netted a goal
off a pass from Seidel (pictured right).
Kean outshot CNU, 25-8, not allowing the Captains a single shot
in the overtime periods.
Junior Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.) recorded
four saves in the draw.
Kean will square off against Virginia Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m. on
Saturday.
