Custidiano's Goal in OT Lifts Kean
Past Medgar Evers, 2-1
Newark, N.J. (9/12/09) - Freshman forward
Michael Custidano (Hawthorne, N.J.) made a winner
out of Kean (3-1-1) over Medgar Evers (1-3-0) with a hustle goal in
the seventh minute of overtime.
The rookie blocked a restart kick at midfield which was picked up
on the run by freshman back T.J. Graziani (Roxbury,
N.J.) on a breakaway between two MEC defenders.
Graziani drew the goalkeeper before shuffling a cross to Custidano
on the right side of the box. Custindano (pictured right)
chased down the pass, circled to the outside and fired a hard shot
to the upper middle of the net to finish the contest.
Freshman forward Tiago Goetzke (Curtiba,
Brazil) fired a rocket from 45 yards out that got through
the hands of MEC goalkeeper John Ajirotutu to knot the
score at 1-1 in the 51st minute.
MEC 's Sharard Sullivan put away a loss ball after Kean
goalkeeper Alfredo Oquendo (North Plainfield,
N.J.) blocked a header by sophomore midfielder Leon
Natta off of a corner kick in the 36th minute.
Oquendo made four saves to post the win while Ajirotutu stopped
eight shots as Kean held a 27-9 edge in shots.
Kean plays Gallaudet at noon on Sunday, September
13th.
