Men's Hoops Falls to Richard Stockton, 82-68

POMONA, N.J. (1/13/10) - Junior forward Jonathan Jones (Linden, N.J.) led four Kean players in double-figures with 13 points, however Richard Stockton College placed five in double-digits en-route to an 82-68 win over the visiting Cougars in New Jersey Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Wednesday evening.

Jones finished with a double-double, also grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds for the Cougars (4-10, 1-4 NJAC).  Senior forward Omar Smith (Newark, N.J.) scored a game-high 17 points to lead the NJAC South Division leading Ospreys (12-3, 3-1 NJAC). 

The Cougars scored the first four points of the game and used an early 8-0 run to take a 14-6 lead less than five minutes into the game, as senior forward Akinwande Oshodi (Florence, N.J.) scored six points in the run.

However, the Ospreys pulled back within one point at 16-15 after a 9-2 run and junior forward Kai Massaquoi (Lawnside, N.J.) gave the Ospreys the lead for good and ignited a 20-6 run to end the first half for a 40-26 lead at the break. 

Smith and junior guard Michael Farrow (Whitesboro, N.J.) each had 10 points for the Ospreys, while senior guard Vinnie Darpino (Colonia, N.J.) had 10 first-half points for the Cougars.

In the second half, Richard Stockton extended the lead to as many as 24 points on several occasions, before the Cougars scored the final 10 points of the game.

Darpino and Oshodi (pictured right) each had 12 points for Kean, while senior forward Brian Lytle (Union, N.J.) added 10 points and seven rebounds.

For the Ospreys, senior guard Santini Lancioni (Runnemede, N.J.) finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, and Farrow chipped in with 13 points and four assists.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday, January 16, as they remain on the road at Ramapo College.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
