Union, N.J. (10/15/10) – The Kean
University field hockey team used a balanced scoring attack as they
defeated Richard Stockton College, 3-0, Friday evening in New
Jersey Athletic Conference action.
The Cougars (8-4, 2-1 NJAC) got things going in the first half as
senior Erica Kelly (pictured right) scored what
would be the game-winner at 16:27 after dribbling in from the left
side. KU then tacked on another goal in the first half as
junior Olivia Triano drilled a shot from the top
off the circle off a pass from Amie Hoch on the
penalty corner opportunity. The Cougars closed out the
scoring when rookie Makia Sturgis scored off a
scramble in front of the cage.
Senior Lauren Dobbs made one save in the
shutout win while senior Debi O'Kane recorded six of
eight total saves for the Ospreys (1-12, 0-4 NJAC).
The Cougars outshot Stockton, 16-3, while holding a 18-9
advantage in penalty corners.
Kean returns to NJAC action on Tuesday when they travel to
Ramapo College. Richard Stockton plays the same day as they
host Drew University.
