HILLSIDE, N.J. (10/16/10) – The College
of New Jersey defeated host Kean University, 2-1, in New Jersey
Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday
afternoon.
The Lions (7-5-2, 5-1-1 NJAC) erased a 1-0 deficit to remain at
the top of the NJAC standings.
Kean (8-7-1, 4-3 NJAC) took a 1-0 lead early in the game, when
sophomore Abner Denis (pictured right) scored off
the assist from sophomore Kharee Winslow on the
through ball.
Midway through the first half, the Lions tied the game on the
Ray Nelan penalty kick after the Kean foul inside the
box.
The Lions scored the game-winning goal late in the first half
when Chris Pisano scored off the assist from Sean
Casey with three minutes remaining in the half.
The Lions held an 8-6 edge in shots and a 6-2 advantage in
corner kicks.
Kean rookie goalkeeper Tyler Callahan made four
saves, while TCNJ goalie Adam Friedman stopped a pair of
shots.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, October 19, when they
host Ursinus College at the East Campus Soccer Complex at 3
p.m.
