Westminster, Md. (11/19/10) – Senior Angelica Bermudez scored a double-double as the #8 Kean University women's basketball team opened the 2010-11 season with a 90-47 win at McDaniel College on Friday night.

The Cougars (1-0) and Green Terror (0-1) traded baskets in the opening minute before Kean took the lead for good for the duration of the contest. 

Kean sprinted to a double-digit lead with a 10-0 run over a two minute span as Bermudez (pictured left) started things off with a layup and freshman Emily Cristaldi finished the run with a jumper at 16:30.  The Cougars would lead by as many as 28 in the first half as junior Briana Winston hit a layup with 57 seconds to go for a 47-19 lead.

Sophomore Naimah Clemons led the way with 11 first half points while Bermudez added 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

The Cougars then cruised through the second half leading by as many as 43 on two separate occasions in the final minute of action.

Bermudez finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds while senior Tiffany Patrick (pictured right) added 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals.  Junior Brittany Powell had 13 points off the bench for the Cougars. 

Kean will face off in the championship game of the McDaniel Tip-Off Tournament at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
