Cougars Falls to TCNJ, 73-63
Ewing, N.J. (2/13/10) - The College of New
Jersey used a late second half run to push past the Kean University
men's basketball team, defeating the Cougars, 73-63, Saturday
afternoon in NJAC action.
After a slow offensive start for both teams, Kean (8-15, 5-7 NJAC)
used a short 6-0 with just under four minutes to go in the first
half to gain their first double-digit lead of the game. The
Lions used their own run to end the half and closed within five,
26-21, at the break.
Both teams see-sawed in the second half, which included the
game's eighth tie score, but it was TCNJ who pulled away in the
final seven minutes, scoring 26 points in the span, to close out
the contest.
Senior Vinnie Darpino (Colonia, N.J.) finished
with a team-high 22 points while teammate Akinwande Oshodi
(Florence, N.J.) added 10 points.
The Cougars close out the regular season on Monday, February
15th as Kean hosts Rowan University on senior night at 8
p.m.
