Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past
Centenary, 20-3
UNION, N.J. (3/24/10) – Sophomore
Nick Angrisani (Belle Mead, N.J.) scored a
game-high four goals to lead the Kean University men's
lacrosse team to a 20-3 win over visiting Centenary College on
Wednesday evening.
Rookie Sean Bobal (Clinton, N.J.) and senior
C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.) each added three
goals for the Cougars (4-4), who had 12 different players score
goals to snap a two-game losing skid.
For the Cyclones (3-2), freshman Conor Nolan (Hillsborough,
N.J.) scored twice and added an assist.
Angrisani scored the first goal just 61 seconds into the
contest, as the Cougars would score all three goals of the first
quarter for the 3-0 lead.
The Cougars netted the first four goals of the second quarter,
including three in a two minute span midway through the
quarter, before Centenary would get on the board with a goal by
Nolan with 5:05 left in the quarter. Angrisani netted the
final goal of the first half with 1:20
remaining to give the Cougars an 8-1 lead at the break.
In the third quarter, Kean again scored three of the
quarter's five goals in a two-minute span, as the Cougars
extended the lead to 13-1 en-route to scoring a season-high 20
goals.
Junior Justin Lappen (Tolland, Conn.) (pictured
right) picked up 10 groundballs, as he won 15-of-18 faceoffs.
Senior Anthony Bertucci (Edison, N.J.) added two
goals and four groundballs.
Senior goalkeeper John Gesumaria (Cranford,
N.J.) made four saves in the win, as the Cougars held a
45-12 advantage in shots.
Centenary goalkeeper Kyle McVay (North Brunswick, N.J.)
made seven saves, while freshman Kyle Burgess (Glen Gardner,
N.J.) stopped two shots.
