Men's Lacrosse Tops Maritime,
6-3
Union, N.J. (4/24/10) – Senior
Anthony Bertucci netted two goals as the Kean
University men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season
by defeating SUNY Maritime College, 6-3, Saturday afternoon in
Skyline Conference action.
In a low scoring affair, the Cougars (11-5, 5-1 Skyline) got on the
board in the second quarter with a goal from senior Jazimar
Bailey from senior Scott Leathem with
14:13 on the clock. Bertucci notched his first goal of the
match at the seven minute mark from Bailey. Maritime (5-9,
3-3 Skyline) closed within one with a goal with just over a minute
to go from Seth Collins.
After Alexander Korb tied the game at two all in the
third quarter, Kean rolled off the next four straight goals to
secure the win. Chris Masiulis (pictured
right) wrapped up the scoring off a pass from Leathem with just
under two minutes to go in the match.
Keeper Greg Egan recorded three saves in his
second straight start while Maritime starting netminder Colin
Gallagher had 18 saves in just under 58 minutes of action in
the loss.
Kean has secured the #2 seed in the upcoming Skyline Tournament
and will host #3 Farmingdale State on Wednesday, April
28th at 7 p.m.
