Women's Lacrosse Closes Out 2010
Season
Montclair, N.J. (4/29/10) – Sophomore
midfielder Cora Delfini and junior Kayla Henderson each scored nine
goals as top-seeded Montclair State scored the first seven goals
and defeated Kean 20-9 in Skyline Tournament action on Thursday.
Montclair State won its third straight match improving to 11-4.
The Red Hawks will now host No. 2 seed Ramapo College in the
championship game on Saturday, May 1 at 5:00 pm.
The loss drops Kean to 8-10 overall as the Cougars conclude the
2010 season.
Freshman midfielder Lyndsey Cannon had four goals and three
assists to lead KU.
Montclair jumped out to a 2-0 lead 1:18 into the contest as
Henderson scored twice, the second coming off an assist from Maggie
Fallon. Delfini scored with 22:11 to play sparking a
five-goal run in the span of 2:41. Four of those goals for MSU came
on the power-play as Delfini scored twice in that spurt. Lauren
Adams finished off the run on a free-position attempt as the Red
Hawks led 7-0 with 19:30 remaining.
Junior Amanda South stopped the run with Kean's first goal
at 13:34 of the period.
A goal by senior Chelsea Davis with 5:18 to play got the Cougars
within 10-4, but Montclair closed out the half with a five goals.
South and Davis had two goals apiece for Kean, which got 10
saves from freshman Jules Keeley. Cannon had four draw controls
with Julie Bachovchin, Stephanie Tocko and Davis each recording
three ground balls.
