UNION, N.J. (9/18/10) – Sophomore
Tiago Goetzke scored his second game-winning goal
in as many games, as the Kean University men's soccer team
opener New Jersey Athletic Conference play with a 1-0
double-overtime victory over #25 Richard Stockton College on
Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars (4-2-1, 1-0 NJAC), who defeated #23 York College (Pa.)
earlier in the week on Goetzke's game-winner with less than
10 minutes remaining, held a 16-13 edge in shots, while both teams
had six corner kicks.
Rookie goalkeeper Tim Brett made seven saves for the Ospreys
(4-3, 0-1 NJAC).
After more than 105 scoreless minutes, sophomore Kharee Winslow controlled the ball on the Osprey side of the
field before handing the ball off to Goetzke, who fired the shot
from nearly 30 yards out over the outstretched, diving reach of the
6-7 Brett with 3:31 remaining.
For the Cougars, senior goalkeeper Alfredo Oquendo (pictured right) made six saves for the shutout
victory.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, September 22, at
Rutgers-Newark at 7 p.m.
