UNION, N.J. (9/19/10) – Junior Olivia Triano and senior Kelly Mataya each scored goals to lift the Kean University field hockey team to a 2-0 shutout over St. Joseph's College of Maine in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

The Cougars (5-1) held a 27-7 advantage in shots over St. Joseph's (3-2), including a 18-6 edge in penalty corners.

Triano (pictured right) gave the Cougars the early lead in the first half, firing a shot from the right baseline into the side of the cage for the 1-0 edge at the 15:11 mark.

The score would remain that way until the final 10 minutes when Mataya converted the penalty stroke for the 2-0 lead with 9:09 remaining.

For the Monks, junior goalkeeper Meaghan Johnson stopped 11 shots, while junior back Alyssa Dunn made four defensive saves.
