Montclair, N.J. (10/12/11) – Montclair State University scored three straight unanswered goals in the second half to defeat the Kean University men's soccer team, 4-1, Wednesday afternoon from the MSU Soccer Park.
The loss drops the Cougars to 8-4-2 this season while the win improves Montclair to 10-2-2.
MSU got on the board with the game's first goal in the 31st minute. The score would remain that way until the second half as the Cougars tied things up at 52:07 off a goal from rookie Alexander Fernandez, assisted by freshman Tulio Pinto.
The Red Hawks then went up for good at 60:07 off a shot from outside the box. MSU added insurance with a header just two minutes later before tacking on the game's final goal in the 64th minute.
Kean had three different members split time in goal for a combined six saves.
Montclair held a slight edge in shots (15-12) while Kean held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Kean returns to action on Saturday when they travel to take on The College of New Jersey at 1 p.m.
