COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (10/18/11) –Visiting
Kean University exploded for four goals in the second half as the
Cougars defeated host Ursinus College. 4-1. In men's soccer
action on Tuesday evening.
The Cougars (9-5-2) erased a 1-0 first half deficit with four
goals in the final half, as they held a 30-9 shot advantage over
the Bears (3-9-3).
Ursinus took a 1-0 lead with its lone goal from senior
midfielder Andrew Machalick, who scored in the third
minute of the game.
The Cougars tied the game in the 62nd minute, as
freshman midfielder Alexander Fernandez scored off
of a rebound off of the goal post. Just minutes later,
forward Erickson Simeon followed with a goal off
the Sheldon Palmer assist in the 65th
minute.
In the 75th minute, Palmer (pictured left) scored on
a PK, upping the Cougar lead to 3-1.
With just 4:27 to play, freshman midfielder Jonathan
German scored on an assist by junior midfielder
Danny Olivo for the final margin.
Ursinus senior goalkeeper Mike Alfieri made eight
saves, while Kean freshman goalkeeper Nick
Pavlichko had five saves in the win.
The Cougars host Rowan University on Friday, October 21, at 7
p.m.
