Wayne, N.J. (10/26/11) – The Kean University men's soccer team fell to host William Paterson University, 2-1, Wednesday evening in their season finale.
The Cougars finish the season with a 10-6-3 overall record while the win improves the Pioneers to 12-3-3 this season.
All of tonight's scoring took place in the second half as WPU jumped on the board with two goals, the first coming at 48:28 and later at 74:15. The first goal was an unassisted goal from Domenick Candelieri after a rebound on a Kean defender. The Pioneers went up 2-0 as Joe Strawman finished a ball served into the box from Marcus Hackett off a free kick from Michael Encarnacion.
Kean then broke up the shutout at 86:59 as freshman Patrick Foley finished a ball that was served through the WPU defenders by junior Kharee Winslow.
Sophomore Tyler Callahan made four saves in the loss. The Cougars held a 17-14 edge in shots with a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
