UNION, N.J. (10/28/11) – Senior
Olivia Triano scored a pair of goals to lead the
Kean University field hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Vassar
College in non-conference action on Friday evening.
Kean (10-5) scored twice in the first six minutes of the game,
as the Cougars held a 27-8 advantage in shots and a 19-3 edge in
penalty corners over Vassar (7-9).
Triano got the Cougars on the board just 3:14 into the game with
her hard shot from the top of the circle off the corner pass from
sophomore Stephanie Soares.
Just two minutes later, Triano's initial shot was saves
and rookie Briana Mace knocked in the rebound for
the 2-0 lead at the 5:29 mark.
Later in the first half, Triano and junior Kelly
Bachovchin (pictured left) extended the lead to 4-0, with
unassisted goals in the 25th and 33rd minute,
respectively.
Vassar got on the board late in the game, as Enya
Cunningham scored off a scrum in front of the left side of the
game with just 3:48 left.
Vassar goalkeeper Maggie Brelis made 17 saves for the
Brewers, while Kean keeper Erin Langan stopped
three shots.
The Cougars close out the regular season with a non-conference
game at SUNY New Paltz at 1 p.m.
