Women's Soccer Rallies Past Marywood, 3-1

Union, N.J. (10/6/11) – The Kean University women's soccer team scored three straight goals to defeat visiting Marywood University, 3-1, Thursday evening at Kean Alumni Stadium.

Kean improves to 9-2-1 while the Pacers fall to 4-7-1 this season.

Marywood jumped on the board first with a penalty kick goal from junior Lacey Habicht at 29:15.  Kean responded seven minutes later as Shelby Wallace scored from the left side off a pass from junior Teghan Pecherski to knot the game at one-all.

The score would remain that way through the break before senior Danielle Esposito scored the game-winner off a header in the 66th minute.  Freshman Shelby Pedersen added insurance four minutes later as she scoped up the rebound off a keeper save on the shot of sophomore Amanda Repko.

Rookie Kaitlin King recorded four saves in the win for Kean while Dominque Kozuch also had four saves in the loss.

Kean held a 12-8 advantage in shots while Marywood held a 5-2 edge in corner opportunities.

Kean returns to action on Wednesday when they host Montclair State University at 7:30 p.m.
