Ashland, Va. (12/29/11) – The Kean
University men's basketball team fell to Farmingdale State
College in the opening day of the Randolph-Macon Coaches Classic by
the final of 77-60.
The Cougars (2-9) will face Baruch College on Friday in the
consolation matchup at 5 p.m.
It was a slow scoring first half with Kean holding a slight 13-12
lead after 10 minutes of play. The Rams (7-2) then picked up
the pace with a 20-6 run over the last 10 minutes of the half to
take a 32-19 into the break. Sophomore Michael
Burton led the Cougars with nine points while sophomore
Kyle Latorre and junior Anthony
Gibson each collected five rebounds.
The Cougars were not able to overcome the deficit in the second
half as the Rams held a double-digit lead for most of the final 20
minutes.
Burton (pictured left) finished the game with a team-high 17
points while teammate Kenny Pace added 13.
Senior Andrew Kirey tallied 11 points.
