Camden, N.J. (2/12/11) – Senior Tiffany Patrick scored a game-high 23 points to lead the #7/8 Kean University women's basketball team past Rutgers-Camden by the final of 69-44 Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.
With the win Kean improves to 21-3 overall and 11-1 in conference action.
It was a close matchup in the first half with seven lead changes before Rutgers-Camden took the lead on a layup with just over six minutes to go before halftime. That bucket sparked a 12-2 run by the Scarlet Raptors for their biggest lead of the game at 28-19. Camden held on to the lead and headed into the break with a 32-25 advantage. Patrick led the Cougars with 13 points.
Kean then dominated the second half and used a 32-4 run in the first 12 minutes to control the game. Patrick (pictured left) was key in starting the surge as she tied the game at 34-all while freshman Emily Cristaldi gave the Cougars the lead for good on a trey with 15:59 to go.
The Cougars shot 50% for the afternoon while edging the Scarlet Raptors 39-31 in rebounds.
Sophomore Naimah Clemons finished with 11 points and junior Briana Winston added eight.
Kean concludes the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to Richard Stockton for a 6 p.m. matchup.
