UNION, N.J. (2/24/11) – Philadelphia
Biblical University remained undefeated in the North East
Collegiate Volleyball Association-Metro Division with a 3-0 win
over host Kean University on Thursday evening.
The Crimson Eagles (13-2, 8-0 NECVA-Metro) won in straight sets,
25-15, 25-19, 25-13, as senior Justin Brubaker had a
game-high nine kills.
For the Cougars (5-11, 2-5 NECVA-Metro), rookie
Christian Portera (pictured left) had seven kills
and five digs.
In the opening set, PBU opened up a 13-3 lead and extended the
lead to 24-11, en-route to the 25-15 set. The Crimson Eagles
opened the second set with a 5-1 lead, before the Cougars battled
back to tie the game at 7-7. However, PBU scored six of the
set's next seven points and led by as many as seven points to
win the second set by six points. PBU closed out the win by
scoring the final three points in the third set.
For the Cougars, rookie Alx Draughn had three
kills and three total blocks, while rookie Tom
Kemmerle had a team-high seven digs.
In the win, sophomore Noah Prickett added six kills and
eight digs and senior setter Drew Dillon had five kills,
two blocks and 24 assists.
Kean returns to action this weekend at the Baruch Invitational
on Saturday and Sunday, February 26th and
27th.
