Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Cougars Cruise Past Mt. St. Mary, 17-3

Union, N.J. (3/26/11) – Senior Amanda South led all players with five goals scored as the Kean University women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Mt. St. Mary College, 17-3, Saturday afternoon in Skyline Conference action.

In a cold and windy non-spring like day, Kean improved to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in the Skyline Conference.  The loss drops Mt. St. Mary to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Knights scored the first goal of the contest for their only lead of the game as Ellen Cashin scored an unassisted goal with 26:32 to go.  Kean then scored 12 unanswered goals to close out the half and added four more to start the second half before Erica Massmann broke up the streak with a man-down goal. 

Senior Erica Kelly recorded three goals and two assists along with five groundballs in the win while sophomore Lyndsey Cannon added two goals, an assist, two groundballs, four draw controls and two caused turnovers.

The Cougars return to action on Tuesday when they host Montclair State University in NJAC and Skyline Conference action beginning at 4:30 p.m.
