Angrisani Nets Game-Winner in OT Win Over Vassar

UNION, N.J. (3/5/11) – Junior attack Nick Angrisani scored the game-winning goal with 7.3 seconds left in overtime to lift the Kean University men's lacrosse team to an 8-7 win over Vassar College in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Angrisani (pictured left) finished with two goals, four groundballs and two caused turnovers for the Cougars (2-1) in their home-opener.  Vassar goalkeepers Alex Tice and Andrew Nicol combined to make 15 saves in the first game of the year for the Brewers (0-1).

Vassar erased a 6-3 third-quarter deficit, as they netted four straight goals spanning the third and fourth quarters to take a 7-6 lead with 9:16 remaining.

Angrisani tied the game at 7-7 just over two minutes later when he scored off the assist from rookie Richard Cheifitz with 7:08 left in regulation, before netting the unassisted goal in the final seconds of the first overtime session.

The Cougars held a 2-1 lead after the first quarter, before extending the lead to 5-2 at halftime behind a pair of goals from sophomore Ryan Buerkle

In goal for Kean, sophomore Lane Zierten made seven saves.  Senior Justin Lappen won 10-of-16 faceoffs and picked up three groundballs. 

For the Brewers, senior midfielder Sam Seymour had two goals and two assists, while junior attach Jack Gross added two goals.

Kean returns to action on Saturday, March 12, when the Cougars host Western Connecticut State University at 1 p.m.
