UNION, N.J. (4/12/11) – Senior Amanda South scored six goals and became the first player in program history to eclipse 200 career goals to lead the Kean University women's lacrosse team to a 20-3 win over Rutgers-Camden in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening.
The Cougars (7-6, 1-2 NJAC) opened up an 11-1 lead in the first half after the start of the game was delayed 85 minutes due to lightning. For the Scarlet Raptors (2-5, 0-2 NJAC), goalkeeper Rachel Powell made five saves.
South (pictured left) netted five of her goals in the opening half, as Kean scored the first six goals of the game and took an 11-1 lead, before the Scarlet Raptors closed the half with a free position goal by Amber Alexander for the 11-2 Kean lead at the half.
The Cougars opened the second half with four straight goals en-route to team's second largest victory of the season.
The program's all-time leader in all three offensive categories, South now has 201 goals, 63 assists and 264 points.
Senior Danielle Bussiere (pictured right) finished with a career-high four goals, while sophomore Stephanie Tocko added four goals in the win.
Rutgers-Camden sophomore attack Annalise Strojan scored a pair of goals.
The Cougars travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College for a non-conference game on Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m.
