JERSEY CITY, N.J. (9/28/11) – Freshman forward Erickson Simeon scored the only goal of the game and sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Callahan made nine saves as the Kean University men's soccer team defeated host New Jersey City U niversity, 1-0, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
Early in the first half, junior Danny Olivo slid a pass from the right side to Simeon, who finished a wide-open shot into the left side of the net at 12:43 into the game.
The score held up for the Cougars (6-2-2, 3-1-0 NJAC), despite being outshot 22-11 by the Gothic Knights (3-4, 1, 0-2-2 NJAC).
For NJCU, goalkeeper Manny Lojo made a pair of saves.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, October 1, when they host Ramapo College in NJAC action at 1 p.m.
