UNION, N.J. (10/13/12) Junior Stephanie Soares scored twice and added two assists as the Kean University field hockey team defeated Richard Stockton College, 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.
Junior Korri Thompson opened the scoring just 2:30 into the contest as she slammed home the rebound of Soares' initial shot. It was the fifth goal of the season for Thompson. In the 29th minute of action, Soares rifled a shot over the shoulder of sophomore goalkeeper Sara Winters for her team leading ninth goal of the season, off a great pass from Thompson. Freshman Laura Cheatham scored just 3:18 into the second half off a feed from Soares. Soares (pictured left) then capped off a six point day by scoring her second goal of the day off a pass from Marissa Robinson.
Freshman goalkeeper Katie DiCarlo recorded three saves in 66 minutes before giving way to fellow freshman Gabriella Krowitz. For the Ospreys (4-10, 0-4 NJAC), Winters made four saves.
The Cougars (7-8, 1-3 NJAC) return to action Tuesday, October 16th as they travel to Susquehanna for a 7 p.m. match.
