UNION, N.J. (10/21/12) – The University
of Rochester used single goals in each half stand up as they topped
the Kean University men's soccer team by the final of 2-0,
Sunday afternoon.
Senior goalkeeper Scott Garfing made two saves as the
University of Rochester improved to 8-2-3 this season. Junior
goalkeeper Tyler Callahan made three saves for the
Cougars who drop to 9-9 overall.
Sophomore forward Nick Pastore opened the scoring for
the Yellowjackets 18:50 in the match. He was able to corral a
rebound in front of the goal and found the back of the net for his
third goal of the season. Late in the second half, teammate
Alex Swanger took a pass from Jack Thesing and
scored his fifth goal of the season to put the Yellowjackets up
2-0.
The Cougars had their best chance in the 78th minute, as junior
Patrick Foley ripped a shot but it ricocheted off
the crossbar.
Kean finishes up their regular season on Wednesday, October 24th
as they host NJAC foe William Paterson at 7:30 p.m.
During halftime, the Kean University athletic department, in
conjunction with the Alumni Association, honored the 1992 National
Championship squad on the 20th anniversary of their
first national championship.
