Mahwah, N.J. (11/28/12) – The Ramapo College men's basketball team scored five points in the final two minutes to edge Kean University, 60-55, Wednesday evening in NJAC action.
With the loss, Kean falls to 0-4 and 0-2 in conference play. #13 Ramapo improves to 3-0 this season and 2-0 in the NJAC.
It was a tight battle in the first 20 minutes, but the Cougars used a 10-2 run to close out the period to take a 32-25 lead into the intermission. Junior Michael Burton led all players with 16 first half points while rookie Frank Nock added six points and eight rebounds.
It was a see-saw affair during the final 20 minutes of play, with a lead of no bigger than five points throughout. With just under four minutes to go in the period, junior Kyle Latorre pushed the Cougar lead to four with back-to-back free throws, giving Kean a 51-47 advantage. Ramapo's Will Sanborn then provided consecutive treys to put the Roadrunners back in the lead, 53-51. The teams would trade points over the next minute before tying at 55-all. Ramapo closed out the win with two free throws from Sanborn and a three-pointer from Anthony LoRusso in the final seconds.
Nock (pictured left) finished the night with a double-double 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday in their home opener against The College of New Jersey at 1 p.m.
