Men's Volleyball Posts Straight Set Win Over NYU-Poly

UNION, N.J. (2/28/12) – Junior Steve Vahalla had 10 kills and eight service aces to lead the Kean University men's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over NYU-Poly in Skyline Conference action on Tuesday evening.

The Cougars (12-4, 8-0 Skyline) posted 36 kills and just six errors in 66 attack attempts for a .455 hitting percentage in the straight set win (25-15, 25-14, 25-15) over the Jays (5-10, 2-5 Skyline).

In the victory, freshman Kyle Farley finished with seven kills in 10 attack attempts (.600 hitting percentage) and added two assisted blocks, while rookie John Cunningham had five kills, four service aces and six digs.  Senior Christian Portera (pictured left) added eight kills and three assisted blocks in the win.

For the Jays, Fild Kroqi had a team-high eight kills and five digs, while Nick Cervasio added five kills and three digs.

Kean, who surpassed the win total from last year's first-year squad, hosts Ramapo College and Purchase College in Skyline action on Sunday, March 4.  The Cougars square off against the Roadrunners at Noon in a battle of Skyline undefeated teams and will battle Purchase at 2 p.m.
