UNION, N.J. (2/9/12) – The Kean University men's volleyball team posted a straight set victory (25-6, 25-16, 25-11) against John Jay College in non-conference action on Thursday evening.

Senior Christian Portera led the Cougars (6-2) with six kills and two assisted blocks in the win.  Freshman outside hitter Frankie Galang totaled nine digs for the Bloodhounds (0-3). 

Kean had 11 different plays see action, as the Cougars had 32 kills and just 12 errors in 68 total attacks for a .294 hitting percentage. 

Junior Steve Vahalla had five kills and no errors in seven attempts, while adding two assisted blocks in the opening set win.  Freshman Ron Dunn (pictured left) added 13 assists and five digs and senior Sam Haimann chipped in with three kills, three assists, five digs, one service ace and one block.

Freshman Rashid Allah Morad led John Jay with three kills.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday, February 11, when Kean travels to NYU-Poly to face The Sage Colleges and College of Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference action.
