Cannon Leads Women's Lacrosse Past Mt. St. Vincent, 14-8

Yonkers, N.Y. (3/28/12) – Junior Lyndsey Cannon recorded a game-high seven goals to lead the Kean University women's lacrosse team to a 14-8 win in Skyline Conference action on Wednesday evening.

It was a see-saw affair in the first half with Kean (4-4, 2-1 Skyline) holding a slight 6-4 edge at the break.  Sophomore Ciara Mastrodomenico (pictured left) led the Cougars with three first half goals.

Cannon then took over in the second half.  With the Cougars leading 6-5 early in the period, Cannon fired off three straight goals in a four minute span to take a 9-5 lead.  Freshman Marisa DeAngelis added another with just under 19 minutes remain to put the Cougars in double-digits.  Cannon rounded out the five goal run with an unassisted goal at 17:18 to push Kean ahead, 11-5.  Mt. St. Vincent (2-5, 1-2 Skyline) and Kean would trade goals for the remainder of the half for the final.

Sophomore Jules Keeley recorded six saves in the win.

Cannon added eight groundballs and five draw controls while also causing six turnovers.  Rookie Meghan Schneck added two assists in the win.

Kean returns to action on Saturday when they host SUNY Maritime College at 1 p.m.
