UNION, N.J. (4/3/12) – The Kean
University men's volleyball team fell to Rutgers-Newark, 3-1,
in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.
Rutgers-Newark (9-12) won the first two sets, before closing out
the four-set victory (25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 25-18) over #14 Kean
(23-9), in the Cougars final regular season home match.
For the Cougars, junior Steve Vahalla (pictured
left) finished with 14 kills and three assisted blocks, while
senior Christian Portera added nine kills.
Rookie setters Ron Dunn and Alex
Barnhard combined for 30 assists.
In the victory, senior Austin Pappas had 14 kills and
three service aces, while Grant Metheny added 12 kills and
Marcin Midura had 10 kills.
The Cougars close out the regular season at Princeton University
on Wednesday, April 11.
