Hillside, N.J. (9/12/12) – The Richard
Stockton College men's soccer team used a late goal to break
a two-all tie and top Kean University by the final of 3-2 in NJAC
action on Wednesday afternoon.
The loss drops Kean to 3-3 this season and 0-1 in the NJAC while
the win improves the Ospreys to 2-2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference
action.
After a scoreless first half, Stockton used goals from freshman
Sean Ahern and junior Chris Katona to take a 2-0
lead. The Cougars struck back and converted two penalty kick
opportunities to tie the match at two-all. Senior
Abner Denis scored both goals for Kean.
Richard Stockton then provided the game-winner in the
87th minute as rookie Clevon Peterson pushed
across the winning goal.
Kean outshot Stockton, 14-12, in a physical battle that saw both
teams combine for 28 fouls and eight yellow cards.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they travel to
Hunter College for a 5 p.m. matchup.
