Stockton Pushes Past Men's Soccer, 3-2

Hillside, N.J. (9/12/12) – The Richard Stockton College men's soccer team used a late goal to break a two-all tie and top Kean University by the final of 3-2 in NJAC action on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss drops Kean to 3-3 this season and 0-1 in the NJAC while the win improves the Ospreys to 2-2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

After a scoreless first half, Stockton used goals from freshman Sean Ahern and junior Chris Katona to take a 2-0 lead.  The Cougars struck back and converted two penalty kick opportunities to tie the match at two-all.  Senior Abner Denis scored both goals for Kean.

Richard Stockton then provided the game-winner in the 87th minute as rookie Clevon Peterson pushed across the winning goal.

Kean outshot Stockton, 14-12, in a physical battle that saw both teams combine for 28 fouls and eight yellow cards.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they travel to Hunter College for a 5 p.m. matchup.
